Competitions

Each year the Society holds a competition night with a range of classes covering all aspects of philatelic collecting. Each class is for eight sheet entries. Judges are appointed from neighbouring societies. The full rules and marking guides are to be found in the club handbook, Philately in Basildon.

 

• Stamps (Traditional)
• Postal History and Postmarks (Marcophily)
• Aerophilately
• Thematics
• Cinderella
• Picture Postcards

 

Entries in the first three classes above may be eligible for the Modern Material award if they contain solely material less than 30 years old. The Ladies Award goes to the highest placed female entrant across all classes.

 

In addition to the above an informal Eight Sheets From My Collection competition is held on another night and is judged by the members present.

 

Trophies are awarded to the winners and all entrants receive a certificate.
